Project 3 Photo restoration

In this project, our objective is to make a picture look more better. Since we have learned how to use the spot healing tool, healing brush tool, patch tool, content-aware tool, clone stamp tool, eraser tool, blur tool, sharpen tool, smudge tool, burn tool, dodge tool, and sponge tool. We are putting it into use now, in this project. We were suppose bring an old picture from our parents and fix it and make them look better using these tools. So I brought a picture of me when I was a baby.

First, I created a mask of me using the quick mask mode and the quick selection tool. Then I used the dodge tool and the sponge tool to make some areas brighter. I used the spot healing tool to get rid of some dots. Last, I created a fill layer with my favorite color in better the image and the mask to create this effect. This skill is helpful because I can make picture that are damaged back into its original condition.

Project 4 Silhouette & Lettering

In this project, we are suppose to choose a person/character to make a collage and a word around it. I chose Kobe Bryant, because he is one of the well known and famous basketball star of all time. He is also one of my favorite basketball player and the one that I know alot of. Inside the cutout I have put images of his team, LA Lakers. An image of money, he is the most paid NBA player today. An image of shoes, Kobe 9 elite, his own signature shoes. The All-star logo, because he was a All-star player. The FIBA logo, because he have won a FIBA medal. The Olympic Medal, because he won this for America before. A MVP award, because he was the NBA MVP in the year 2008 and a few times for All-Star and the Final MVP. And last, a cartoon of a basketball player doing the fade away jump shot, because Kobe much known for his great fade away jump shot, it's iconic to how he plays.

To make the mask, I use quick mask mode and then use the quick selection tool to select the person. Then I put the pictures inside. For part 2, I created a path with the inverse of the selection and the the words I choose to put in. Most part of the lab worked for me, but the words are just hard to see in some areas. The words I use is:
NBA most paid players from LA Lakers who have been in the All star game and has his own shoes. He was a MVP and won the FIBA Gold and the Olympic Gold. He was best know for his fade away jump shots.
I chose these words because I think they really describes Kobe and all the images that I have put in the cutout.

Lab 6 Reflection Journal

Today, we finished our lab 6 in our visual design class. We have 5 parts in this lab. The objective of this lab is to create a picture with 4 different .jpg files inside. File a, we have to use the the spot healing tool to make the holes to blend in to the grass and use the healing brush tool to make the ripped part to blend in to the grass as well. File b, we have used the patch tool, clone stamp tool and the eraser tool to to remove the bullet holes both in the left and the right side, then used the content-ware tool to move the women to another place that we want. For file c, we made a new file and create a back ground with a good looking color by using the new fill layer, then we use the horizontal type tool to write our name, class, date, and the lab number on the image. For file d, we used the blur tool to make the left window blurry. We used the sharpen tool to make the right windows more sharp. We used the smudge tools to make the roof like its smudged. We used the sponge tool to saturate the right side of the flowers and desaturate the left side of the flowers. We used the dodge tool to make the right window cover new. We used the burn tool to make the left window cover older. And we used the rectangular marquee tool to make the top part into a dark red color. The final file was to put all of the images a,b c, and d together in one image. We use view, grid to make columns, then use put the images in place nest to each other in about a box away for each other while keeping its original shape. And this is how we have completed our project.

Marking Period 1 Self Reflection

My goal for the first marking period was to get an average go 95% or above. Through out this marking period I had did my best to finish get a good score on all of my works. I have completed all my homework and get good grades on tests and quizzes. For the labs in this class, I have also completed all, and have made corrections to the labs after school if anything was incorrect. I think I did good and have achieved my goal for this marking period, because I have got a 96 average which is great. I was always on target, but I can still improve my time management, because sometimes I just don't spent enough time and effort on some of my works, so I would try to improve that next time.

Project 2 Warhol Portrait

 Jiahua Huang                                                                                 Visual Design
                                          Project 2 Warhol Portrait

Andy Warhol, a famous American artist, born in Pittsburgh in 1928.He began silkscreen prints of famous people in 1962, and led the movement of pop art since then. If there is a chance I can buy his artwork, I would buy them, because his artwork is something special, they are not like the other works done before and the color is just really attractive. His artwork reminds me of rainbows, because it’s had all different kinds of colors. This association is pleasant and important, because it had changed the influence of art on people, and if they can be attractive, people will like and enjoy his art like how I did.
In popular culture, critics give their opinions to the society and many had different opinions in Warhol's artwork. The difference of an informed opinion and uninformed opinions is that an informed opinions are comments that understand and know about Warhol's work, and an uninformed opinion is ones that are commented without ever seen or really knowing or understanding his work. Taste and bias are different, taste is what you feel like at the inside, and bias is what you think you like or prefer. Andy Warhol's portraits are different, because they are unique, he had his own format and most of the time, he use a wide range of colors and off registrar painting to show variation on the image.

Portraits are important to us because it is how we can know what some of the famous people look like at a certain period of time and show their uniqueness and the inspiration the person had to the author. Artists painted portraits throughout ages, because they want to remember that person, they want to remember their beauty, or maybe to show their inspirations on the people, the society, or the author himself.

I feel exited about making a Warhol's portrait of myself, because it’s really great to see myself in a kind of art that have been done for many famous people and I really like his artworks. I created a Warhol portrait by using Photoshop. Fist, I make a selection of myself from an image taken in class. Then, I make it artistic so it looks like it’s painted. After that, I make another 3 copies of myself to have 4. Then, I place them in order and change the color of its background color and the color of myself. I have used the quick mask mode, the quick selection tool, the rectangular marquee tool, and the layer tools to change the background color. These skills can help me improve my use of Photoshop and my artistic skills and it might inspire my to be a artist one day.
