Project 6 Logo

This is our project 6, our task was to design our own logo of the business of our favorite thing to do. For me, I love to play basketball, so I though of a training program to help people to get better in basketball. For this project, we can use any tools we want to as long as we know how to use them. I have used mostly vector shapes, the pen tool, and the text tool. This skill might help us in the future because their might be one day that my future company need a new logo and I can create the best logo and get credits for it.
First, I drew 3 logos out on the paper considering the graphic design principles. Then choose the best one that I have drew and draw it again with Photoshop. I used the vector shapes to create the circles and the rectangles first. I then give them a good looking color. I used the line tool to make the net under the rim. I used the pen tool to create the curve lines for the basketball. I cut the backboard into 4 pieces with the polygon tool of 3 sides. And lastly, I used the text tool to write the title of my program.

Lab 9 Brushes

This is my lab 9 for my visual design class. This is a simple lab, our task is to put the background into 35 section and draw anything with different 34 brushes at the first 34 boxes and leave one for the lab name, my name, and the date. This lab is fun, we can use any brush tools we want, and there are so many brushes after we added all the brushes from Photoshop together. I have used different brush tools, the type tool, and the line tool to complete my lab. This lab is helpful, because I had learn how to use different brushes and get familiar with them, so I can draw a lot of things with them.

First, set up a new file with 300 resolution. View - Grid to get the outline of where to draw the lines with the line tool. Use the line tool to draw on the grid and create 35 boxes. Start drawing in each boxes with different brushes in different colors and leave the ones that I like. Change the ones that don't look as good. And last, type in the name for each brush that I have used on top of them and write my name, lab name, and the date at the last box by using the horizontal text tool.

Lab 8 Vector Shapes

In this lab, we are using Photoshop to create shapes and labeling all of them. In this case we are using all of the shape tool in Photoshop, making 23 shapes and putting each into different sections. This may sound very easy but as I try to work on it was not. They have to be good looking and meaningful and there are just to many options to choose from, which make me don't known which to choose. This may be very useful in our future because this can help us make all kinds of shapes in Photoshop and maybe even creating pictures or images out of all those shapes that we can use, also we can get more familiar with it so it doesn't take to much time to create shapes.
First, I opened a new file. Fit it on the screen. Then start using all the shape tools such as the rectangular tool, rounded rectangular tool, ellipse tool, polygon tool, line tool, and the custom tool. Each of these tools does exactly what it sounds line, but the polygon tool can create any shapes form by 3-100 sides and the custom tools has thousands of different shapes to choose from. When can also change thing adding or subtracting different areas of the shapes that were already created. Also we can use any type of hues on the shapes to make is look better. So I put all the simple shapes and some custom shapes to fill in my all my 23 sections and left 1 to write my name, date, class, and the lab number.

Lab 7 Filter

This is our Lab 7, in this lab, we are working with filters in Photoshop. We need to make 6 images with different kinds of filters. Mostly from the gallery. We can use any filters we want as long as you can still see its original image and the shapes. But we have to make them look nice and meaningful. This lab is helpful, because it teach us a lot of ways to give a filter to an image, which makes it look better and stand out more.
First we choose two of our pictures that we took with the camera from web design class. Both should have a object and one should be a person/people. So I choose a picture of 2 of my friends and a picture of flowers. Duplicate the flower into 5 picture.put them in place, make them organized. Then I use liquify to make the effect above for the first picture on the top left. I later used the glass, mosaic tiles, poster edges, rough pastels, and dry brush as my filters for each of the flowers. I used the text tool to write down each type of filters I have used under each picture. Lastly, I have used the cloud filter with black color to make the background look like a dark sky. I did this because all of the picture that I took was in a sunny day, so the dark sky will make them stand out more and create more contrast to them.

Project 3 Photo restoration

In this project, our objective is to make a picture look more better. Since we have learned how to use the spot healing tool, healing brush tool, patch tool, content-aware tool, clone stamp tool, eraser tool, blur tool, sharpen tool, smudge tool, burn tool, dodge tool, and sponge tool. We are putting it into use now, in this project. We were suppose bring an old picture from our parents and fix it and make them look better using these tools. So I brought a picture of me when I was a baby.

First, I created a mask of me using the quick mask mode and the quick selection tool. Then I used the dodge tool and the sponge tool to make some areas brighter. I used the spot healing tool to get rid of some dots. Last, I created a fill layer with my favorite color in better the image and the mask to create this effect. This skill is helpful because I can make picture that are damaged back into its original condition.

Project 4 Silhouette & Lettering

In this project, we are suppose to choose a person/character to make a collage and a word around it. I chose Kobe Bryant, because he is one of the well known and famous basketball star of all time. He is also one of my favorite basketball player and the one that I know alot of. Inside the cutout I have put images of his team, LA Lakers. An image of money, he is the most paid NBA player today. An image of shoes, Kobe 9 elite, his own signature shoes. The All-star logo, because he was a All-star player. The FIBA logo, because he have won a FIBA medal. The Olympic Medal, because he won this for America before. A MVP award, because he was the NBA MVP in the year 2008 and a few times for All-Star and the Final MVP. And last, a cartoon of a basketball player doing the fade away jump shot, because Kobe much known for his great fade away jump shot, it's iconic to how he plays.

To make the mask, I use quick mask mode and then use the quick selection tool to select the person. Then I put the pictures inside. For part 2, I created a path with the inverse of the selection and the the words I choose to put in. Most part of the lab worked for me, but the words are just hard to see in some areas. The words I use is:
NBA most paid players from LA Lakers who have been in the All star game and has his own shoes. He was a MVP and won the FIBA Gold and the Olympic Gold. He was best know for his fade away jump shots.
I chose these words because I think they really describes Kobe and all the images that I have put in the cutout.

Lab 6 Reflection Journal

Today, we finished our lab 6 in our visual design class. We have 5 parts in this lab. The objective of this lab is to create a picture with 4 different .jpg files inside. File a, we have to use the the spot healing tool to make the holes to blend in to the grass and use the healing brush tool to make the ripped part to blend in to the grass as well. File b, we have used the patch tool, clone stamp tool and the eraser tool to to remove the bullet holes both in the left and the right side, then used the content-ware tool to move the women to another place that we want. For file c, we made a new file and create a back ground with a good looking color by using the new fill layer, then we use the horizontal type tool to write our name, class, date, and the lab number on the image. For file d, we used the blur tool to make the left window blurry. We used the sharpen tool to make the right windows more sharp. We used the smudge tools to make the roof like its smudged. We used the sponge tool to saturate the right side of the flowers and desaturate the left side of the flowers. We used the dodge tool to make the right window cover new. We used the burn tool to make the left window cover older. And we used the rectangular marquee tool to make the top part into a dark red color. The final file was to put all of the images a,b c, and d together in one image. We use view, grid to make columns, then use put the images in place nest to each other in about a box away for each other while keeping its original shape. And this is how we have completed our project.

Marking Period 1 Self Reflection

My goal for the first marking period was to get an average go 95% or above. Through out this marking period I had did my best to finish get a good score on all of my works. I have completed all my homework and get good grades on tests and quizzes. For the labs in this class, I have also completed all, and have made corrections to the labs after school if anything was incorrect. I think I did good and have achieved my goal for this marking period, because I have got a 96 average which is great. I was always on target, but I can still improve my time management, because sometimes I just don't spent enough time and effort on some of my works, so I would try to improve that next time.

Project 2 Warhol Portrait

 Jiahua Huang                                                                                 Visual Design
                                          Project 2 Warhol Portrait

Andy Warhol, a famous American artist, born in Pittsburgh in 1928.He began silkscreen prints of famous people in 1962, and led the movement of pop art since then. If there is a chance I can buy his artwork, I would buy them, because his artwork is something special, they are not like the other works done before and the color is just really attractive. His artwork reminds me of rainbows, because it’s had all different kinds of colors. This association is pleasant and important, because it had changed the influence of art on people, and if they can be attractive, people will like and enjoy his art like how I did.
In popular culture, critics give their opinions to the society and many had different opinions in Warhol's artwork. The difference of an informed opinion and uninformed opinions is that an informed opinions are comments that understand and know about Warhol's work, and an uninformed opinion is ones that are commented without ever seen or really knowing or understanding his work. Taste and bias are different, taste is what you feel like at the inside, and bias is what you think you like or prefer. Andy Warhol's portraits are different, because they are unique, he had his own format and most of the time, he use a wide range of colors and off registrar painting to show variation on the image.

Portraits are important to us because it is how we can know what some of the famous people look like at a certain period of time and show their uniqueness and the inspiration the person had to the author. Artists painted portraits throughout ages, because they want to remember that person, they want to remember their beauty, or maybe to show their inspirations on the people, the society, or the author himself.

I feel exited about making a Warhol's portrait of myself, because it’s really great to see myself in a kind of art that have been done for many famous people and I really like his artworks. I created a Warhol portrait by using Photoshop. Fist, I make a selection of myself from an image taken in class. Then, I make it artistic so it looks like it’s painted. After that, I make another 3 copies of myself to have 4. Then, I place them in order and change the color of its background color and the color of myself. I have used the quick mask mode, the quick selection tool, the rectangular marquee tool, and the layer tools to change the background color. These skills can help me improve my use of Photoshop and my artistic skills and it might inspire my to be a artist one day.

Project 1 Adjustments/Enhancements

- In this project, I have learned how to create a mask using quick mask mode and other selection tools in Photoshop. I have learned how to use Blur tool to make the background more blurry to make the mask of the object pop out more. And also how to use the Outter Glow tool to make the letters look a lot more better.

- I like everything about this project. It is great that we can learn things while doing it on our own. If we don't understand, there are tutorials to help us to understand everything perfectly and there are teachers to help us. And we have just enough time to finish, but it would of been even better if we had just a little more time.

- This project is related to web design, because we have to learn many ways to edit images and make things look better with Photoshop to create a web site, and creating a mask really help us to edit the image without changing anything to the original image, so we don't have to worry much if we did something wrong. This project is important because it shows us how we can do more things with the mask and tools that will help us to make better images in the future. And we get to experience all the procedure which helps us to learn things more better and remember more clearly.

Lab 5 Mask and the use of the Quick Mask Mode

The is our lab 5. As you can see, this lab is about layers masks of Photoshop from the title. I have create an bubble head effect on the picture we took in class with my partner using quick mask mode. Our objective is to create an creative bubble head picture with the picture of me and my partner, and switch our heads on each others' body. This skill can help us to know how to use the quick mask mode, so later when we need to work on something similar, we can just do the same thing so it does'n't change the original image.

First, I click on quick mask mode and highlight the face with the brush tool. Then I click on the quick mask mode again to make a selection. Duplicate a new layer from the original image, then click add vector mask to create a mask for the face. Do the same thing to the other face. After that, switch the heads and make them bigger so it look like a bubble head. This is relevant to web design because sometimes, you need to create things and you don't want to get things wrong, you can use the layer masks to prevent that so your original image will never get changed.

Explain Why attention to Detail and Following Procedure are Important elements of Web Design?

Paying attention to details and following procedures are important elements of web design, because these are the way that you learn, and you need to learn whatever the teacher is teaching you in order to understand what you are doing and complete your work. Without paying attention or following procedures, you can't be able to learn anything. You will be wasting your time in the class time and not learn anything and will have really bad grades. So it's really important to pay attention and follow procedures.

HOW DO WE TAKE NOTES?

How do we take notes?  Notes are important, they are what you put in your notebook as you learn to record all the things so you won't forget. Taking notes is a simple thing, but some people are just not good at it, so I will tell you have to take good notes. First thing that you do when you come to the classroom, don't talk, because talking will only waste your time to write down the notes. You need to sit down silently and take out a pen and your notebook. Then write down everything from the board and follow the instructions if it has. This way you can have all the notes and learn more.

Lab 4 Image Adjustment part 2

In lab 4, we worked again about image adjustments in our class, but this time we get to use our own pictures that we took with the cameras from web design class. We are putting the image in Photoshop and change the size of the image to make it smaller. Then place them from up left to down right. And make every image into different colors, the first one change the hue, the second one replace the color, the third one change it into black and white, the last one change its saturation. This is relevant to web design because this helps you to know how to get different colors in Photoshop and make things in your website more colorful.
First, I change the image size to 250 x 186, then copy it to the Lab 4 psd. After that, I duplicate the image 4 times to get 5 images. Place them at the place my teacher told us to just like above. Then start to change the name for each layer to keep them in order. After, use the image adjustment tools to change the hue, saturation, black and white, or replace color for 4 of the images and leave one to compare. This skill is useful because you can change the color of different objects, so can make the object into a better looking color, make it into any color that you like,or get the effects you want.

Lab 3 Image Ajustment

After
Hi, I am Jiahua Huang, form I.T.H.S web design class. This is my lab 3, Our objective is to learn to use selection tools and image adjustment using Photoshop. We have to make a good selection to the dog in the image, then we have to make a layer out of it. After that, use different image adjustments to change the color of the dog. We are using hue & saturation, brightness/contract, color contrast... and all other image adjustment tools. This is relevant to web design because when you are making a web site, you want to have good color and good selection so others would like to use it.
First, I made a selection of a dog with the rectangular marquee tool. Then I use the quick selection tool to select the dog more in detail. I create another layer for the dog then put it in to the original picture, which makes two dogs. After that, I use different image adjustments such as brightness and contracts and color balance to make the dog into a different color. I like the hue blue, so i put the dog into a little light blue hue. This skill is useful because this can help you to make one single object into many objects with different colors and look more colorful.

Before

Lab 2 Melon Head

Hi, this is Lab 2 of my web design class. This time, we are learning about the selection tools in Photoshop, such as rectangular marquee tool, elliptical marquee tool, lasso tool, polygonal lasso tool, magnetic lasso tool, quick selection tool, and magic wand. This are the selection of Photoshop, which lets you to select a part of an image and make another layer or cut it out from the original image. This is relevant to web design because this can let to learn about the simple selection and put them together and create your own image to build your website.
Our objective of this lab is to use the given image with different fruits and vegetables from the teacher and make your own creative melon head. We used different selection tools to select the fruit or vegetable onto another layer from a given image. Then make your own melon head out of all you selections. You have to make sure that when you are making a selection. And try to select as little white space as you can because it can make your image look unprofessional. This skill is important, because this can help you to make better selections in Photoshop and make your work more professional.

Lab 1 Camera Angles

This is the first lab in my web design class. We were learning about camera angles, such as eye level, landscape, close up, low point, high point. And our objective is to make a image with 5 images of each of the camera angles. The tools we use in this lab is a camera, Photoshop, and the horizontal type tool. This teach us to know how to use the most basic things in Photoshop. This is the starting to get in to web design because you need to know how to take pictures and know what you are taking in order to get a good picture to put in your web site.
First we take 100 pictures. Then choose the best picture of each the camera angles and put them in Photoshop. Put them in the space you want it to be Rasterize all of the images. And type in all the camera angles next to the image using the horizontal type tool. Last, we use the horizontal type tool to write the name, class, lab number and date on a blank spot. This skill is helpful, because it helps you to take better pictures and know the camera angle that you are using to make it better.

My color scheme

1. I chose this color scheme because this color scheme is just very good looking to me, it really makes me can't stop staring at it, and it kind of shows my emotions, some bright colors and some cool colors.
2. Green, light blue, white, and dark blue reminds me to the nature. Sea, sky, clouds, grass, trees, plants... all the beautiful things that are in our life everyday. And the red is just a color that i like a lot when I was a kid, so it really reminds me of my childhood and all the fun stuff.

Hi, my name is Jiahua Huang, I am from China, and I am fourteen. I am a student in 10th grade at I.T.H.S. I really like technologies, especially computers, phones, and headphones. I use all of them at daily basis, and I would really like to learn about them. I am in Web Design academy because this academy can give me to learn more of technologies, computers, software, and websites. And hope that it can help me at the the future.  I expect my teacher in Web Design class, Ms. Ramirez to teach us all we need to know in this class to create our own websites. Also be friendly and nice to students, which is how you are already. I plan to succeed in this class by participating. Such as doing all the classwork and homework on time. Attend class without being late. Listen to what the teacher says. Follow all the rules. And most importantly, work hard.
